My Handmade Journey

Interior of a yurt with a lattice pattern wall, featuring two framed signs and a woven basket. One sign reads "Maine"; the other has a nature photograph with the quote "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." The basket contains twigs.

I'm a woodworker, father, musician, photographer, and organic gardener — someone who has always been drawn to things made by hand.

CarvedWoodenSpoons.com grew out of that devotion. I launched the site in 2013, nudged along by friends and family who thought my work should reach a wider world. What began as a small shop for custom hand-carved spoons and kitchenware has since expanded to include curated wooden kitchen gift sets and other carefully crafted pieces.

I work out of a small studio in Brunswick, Maine — coastal, quiet, and surrounded by an organic garden, open fields, a brook, and mixed hardwood forest. Nature isn't just a backdrop here; it's the source. Many of my hand-embellished designs echo the organic forms I find just outside my door. I approach each piece of wood looking for what's already waiting inside it — the hidden spoon, the latent form. Today, my work has found its way into the kitchens and collections of people across the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and South Korea.

Hand-carving spoons is an ancient craft, and I take that lineage seriously. I honor traditional methods while weaving in modern techniques to produce pieces with a refined, heirloom character. I believe the most meaningful objects earn their place by being both beautiful and useful — and that the best work happens when imagination, intention, and skilled hands are all pulling in the same direction. Every utensil I make is shaped by a thoughtful mix of tools, technique, and patience.

Thank you for being part of this handmade journey.
